Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of Stick, a free, open-source macOS sticky notes app from github.com/jvalaj/stick.

1. About Stick

Stick is a native macOS app for creating lightweight sticky notes on your desktop. Stick is local-first, does not require an account, does not include subscriptions, and stores notes on your Mac.

Stick is currently distributed as source code and build artifacts through the Stick GitHub repository.

2. License

Stick is provided under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the software as permitted by that license.

The MIT License also includes important warranty disclaimers. If there is any conflict between these Terms and the MIT License regarding rights granted under the software license, the MIT License controls.

3. Requirements

Stick is designed for macOS 26 or later. Some installation methods require Apple Xcode Command Line Tools.

Stick may be unsigned. macOS may display security warnings the first time you open the app. You are responsible for deciding whether to install and run the app on your device.

4. Your notes and content

Notes you create in Stick are stored locally on your Mac. You are responsible for the content of your notes, for maintaining backups, and for deleting notes you no longer want.

Stick does not provide cloud sync, account recovery, remote backup, or hosted storage.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Stick in a way that violates applicable law, infringes the rights of others, or attempts to misuse, disrupt, or compromise other software, systems, or devices.

6. Updates and changes

Stick may change over time. Features may be added, changed, or removed. Because Stick is open source, different builds or forks may behave differently from the official repository.

7. Third-party services

Stick itself does not use a hosted backend, analytics service, payment processor, advertising network, or account provider.

However, if you access the GitHub repository, download source code from GitHub, open an issue, or use other third-party tools to build or install Stick, those third parties may process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

8. No warranty

Stick is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Stick may contain bugs, may lose data, may fail to save notes, or may not work on every system configuration.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Stick maintainers and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, business interruption, or device issues arising from your use of Stick.

10. Termination

You may stop using Stick at any time by quitting and deleting the app. You may also delete locally stored Stick data from your Mac.

The maintainers may stop maintaining, distributing, or supporting Stick at any time.

11. Contact

For bugs, support, or questions, open an issue in the Stick GitHub repository.
